Police responded to a call of a person shot at 145 Washington Street in Dorchester around 7:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, Boston Police report. This is the address for Celebrity Cuts Barbershop.
Upon arrival, officers found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later, WHDH reports.
While the man's identity has yet to be released, community members believe the victim was a barber, the outlet reports.
“The fact that this took place inside a barbershop, a hub for the community that is supposed to be a safe space for everyone to come and feel and look their best, makes this all the more devastating,” said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, per the outlet.
